Matt is an outstanding communicator and brings a wide range of knowledge in horticulture and arboriculture to the experienced team at Tree Dimensions. His career in horticulture began as an apprentice gardener in South Gippsland in 1999. Later he worked in Melbourne’s inner-city gardens where he became Head Gardener of the Kings Domain and the Shrine of Remembrance parklands.

Prior to commencing work with Tree Dimensions in 2012, Matt worked at an inner-city retail nursery and as a practical (climbing) arborist around Melbourne, Victoria and interstate. As a practical arborist, Matt gained skills in professional tree maintenance, tree removal and the treatment of tree-related pests and diseases.

Since 2004, Matt has worked for the University of Melbourne’s Burnley campus as a sessional research assistant, demonstrator, tutor and lecturer, where he has taught climbing techniques, tree pruning, tree planting, tree valuation and tree identification. He has also taught tree climbing in China.

As a consultant at Tree Dimensions, Matt carries out planning assessments, tree removal requests, tree valuations and tree assessments for private industry and local government. Matt can also undertake climbing (aerial) inspections of trees where necessary. Matt also completed the Australian i-Tree Master Class 2017.
